about sigma6
Sigma6 is a Geneva based company whose aim is to experiment in the fields of visual creation. They make music videos and custom experimental installations for customers large and small. They see the future like a playground, trying new technologies and new ways of mixing different kind of media.
Sigma6 is Eric Morzier and Florian Pittet. The two graduated from the University of art and Design in Lausanne (écal).
history
2002 — Sigma6 began work in the audiovisual field. Bringing together a broad spectrum of techniques (graphic design, multimedia, photography, video, etc), they were playing around between visual performances and VJing. Their experimentations led them to progressively rethink the traditional tools of VJing, replacing classic 4 by 3 screens by walls, mosquito nets, monuments or even smoke. Far from being reduced to its initial function of image projection, the projector becomes a mere vector of shadows and lights. Often performing in cult Geneva clubs, such as le Zoo de l’Usine, the group experimented with various forms of video setups all around Europe and the United States.
2005 — Sigma6 collaborated with other European groups for the first Geneva Mapping Festival, considered today as one of the most important international meeting points for the VJ medium.
2007 — Sigma6 introduced the festival to the first SHARE "audiovisual jam sessions" in Geneva, and is now co-organizing the festival.
Since then, the group changed and evolved, keeping the experimentations a central point of their work.
2009 — Sigma6 incorporates into an official, commercial entity.
